Out of all the radio stations KLAQ showed the least interest and it wasn't until "all hell broke loose) did they take an interest and step up to the plate. 92.3 and Channel 7 were the 2 stations that showed the most interest and concern. |

| Comments: | Recently got back into listening to Def Leppard and was researching some articles online when I came across this page, and thought WOW, an interesting read and strong reactions, but what bothered me was how such an uproar was made over this debacle, and what I don't understand is I thought as humans when we make mistakes and apologize for them forgiveness is accepted to an extent, however I think the Parties involved were just riding a publicity storm to raise awareness and to think they wouldn't accept an apology is beyond belief... I guess the fundamental value of being christian, cathoolic or human in that we forgive those who admit they wronged wasn't practiced in this situation and that was a shame. Although 26 years later and I am sure more than beyond blown over... | Comments: | I was 20 and going to UTEP when that controversy happened. I saw Hispanics on the streets of El Paso wearing Def Leppard T-shirts; okay. I'm Anglo, and listening to Elliott try to smooth things over I was like, okay, but don't ever say anything like that again; you're in the public eye, you have to watch your mouth. | Comments: | Thank you very much for putting this entire website up. I was 13 years old and in that front MOSH PIT of a floor that night. The music and the passion of the band changed me forever. So, it was with deep sadness that Joe had to say something really stupid. I know the context in why he said what he did but I felt his excuse was silly. I am Mexican-American and my husband is English. No way would my husband think it was okay to call me or people in El Paso "the place with all the greasy Mexicans" and try to get away without me or anyone else within earshot pummeling him. Joe even said to Erin Michaels (forgive me if that isn't the name of the broadcaster from KLAQ who interviewed him)that people call English people "Limey's" all the time. They do but it isn't a racial slur. I like that he said that he grew up very quickly after that.
